9th March 2010 - In Ireland & UK Mothers Day this year falls on Sunday March 14th.
People often wonder how the date Mothers Day falls on is determined in Ireland & the UK so here is the answer :
In Ireland & the UK, Mothers Day always falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent. So you might ask - when does Lent start? Well, Lent starts forty days before Easter Sunday. This begs the next question - how is it determined which date Easter Sunday falls. Well Easter Sunday always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox (Vernal meaning Spring and Equinox roughly meaning night time is the same length as day time). Therefore as Mothers Day is calculated in Ireland & the UK by the date Easter Sunday falls, the exact date changes date every year.
In many other countries - USA, Canada, Australia, India, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, Germany & Greece, Mothers Day always falls on the second Sunday in May (in 2010 this will be Sunday 9th May). Other countries use the first Sunday in May including Austria, Netherlands, Spain, Hong Kong, Taiwan & Portugal (in 2010 this will be 2nd May). Some other countries have their own unique variations ie Sweden which uses the last Sunday in May.

Anna will also be available afterwards to answer your questions about selecting and caring for your flowers and vases.

11th February 2010 - Flower orders for St. Valentine's Day for delivery within Dublin and Ireland may be made right up to and including 14th February for same day delivery. Flower orders for outside Ireland are now closed until 15th February 2010.
1st February 2010 - The latest date to place an order for flower delivery to addresses outside Ireland and to arrive on St. Valentine's Day (Sunday 14th February) is Thursday 11th February by 1pm.

23rd November 2009 - Free Childrens Christmas Crafts Workshops on Tuesday 8th December.
In conjunction with Dublin City Council's Family Day on 8th December, we are holding Free Children's Christmas Craft Workshops in the new Blooming Amazing Christmas Shop at 4 - 5 Royal Hibernian Way Dawson St. Dublin 2.
These events will take place at 12.00 & 14.00. They will teach children to design their own Christmas decorations, Christmas cards and small gifts. The events are being run by award winning florist Anna Finlay.
Accompanied children aged 5 - 12 are welcome. Children are not required to bring any materials – just their creativity. Advanced booking is recommended, as places are limited. For bookings, please telephone 01-6795913.
5th November 2009 - Customised Christmas Trees for Home & Office.
Our Christmas tree and Christmas decoration service was launched today for the 2009 season. Our Christmas tree service now includes full design, delivery, installation, lighting & decoration of fresh and artificial Christmas trees. Customised Christmas decorations are also available to match your home or offices decor. Removal of all trees and decorations after Christmas is included with this service as is recycling of all fresh Christmas trees.
1st October 2009 Our wedding special offers just keep coming - place a booking with us for your winter wedding flowers in the month of October you will receive a "mother's thank you bouquet" worth €60.00 absolutely free. This special offer applies to all weddings taking place between 1st October 2009 until 28th February 2010.
14 September 2009. Our three shops now feature a new service - "So Simple - So Try It Yourself"
This service consists of a chosen flower arrangement which is displayed in our shops. You can view this arrangement and then buy all the necessary ingredients that go into assembling it. Included also are a set of detailed instructions and tips on how to assemble your arrangement. Free advice from professional florists is available and an appropriate vase may be purchased for the arrangement if needed.
It enables people who always “fancied a go” at creating their own flower arrangements or indeed those who may have tried arranging flowers in the past without success, to learn from the experts and at the same time create their very own bespoke flower arrangement.
The particular flower arrangement will vary from week to week. Some weeks the arrangement could be modern and structured whilst for other weeks it could be simple and free flowing. This will allow you to choose arrangements that match your own individual tastes or opt for an arrangement style for a particular occasion.
Costs are modest – our current featured arrangement is a modern sunflower arrangement @ €35.00. For more details please call into one of shops in Ranelagh, Dawson St. or Foxrock.
July 2009 Special Wedding Offer - Place an order for your wedding flowers in July or August 2009 and receive a complimentary bride's throw bouquet. Your wedding can take place any time but you must order your flowers in July or August to avail of this special offer.
27 May 2009 - We have introduced a new planting service for the busy homeowner. From today, people can bring their favourite flowerpots, planters and window boxes to any Blooming Amazing store and have them refilled with a selection of colourful flowers, foliages and plants.
This enables people who may have tired looking planters due neglect or those who may lack “green fingers” to have a professional florist replace their faded flower displays.
Flowers chosen may be co-ordinated to match a customers own specific requirements such as the season, their garden style, the décor of their house or indeed offices. The service can also include replacing soil and adding the correct mixtures of nutrients and plant foods.
The cost of this service is modest – from as little as €20.00 for an average sized window box. There is no charge for replanting the planter itself. The only charges are for the plants and any soil or plant food used.
Even if people don’t have their own planter we can supply this too with a newly introduced range of stylish terracotta, zinc and resin containers.
13 May 2009 - Blooming Amazing Flower Company is hosting a FREE Wedding Flowers Event on Wednesday 13th May 2009 from 6pm to 8pm.
This event will feature live demonstrations including various bridal bouquet styles, church arrangements & reception venue decoration along with practical advice and tips on how you can get the most from your wedding flowers. We will also focus on aspects such as “what style bouquet is best suited to you” and “designing your wedding flowers around a particular theme to increase impact”.
The evening will commence at 6pm and end at approximately 8pm and will be of particular interest to “brides to be” who are planning their wedding over the coming year.
Attendance at this event is free however, as places will be limited advanced booking is recommended.

4th December 1878 - The wedding of the year took place today at St. Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 between Bram Stoker (author of Dracula) & Florence Balcombe (an old flame of Oscar Wilde). 130 years later Blooming Amazing Flower Company were on hand to assist in the recreation of this historic event which was held on 2nd & 4th April 2009. July 2008 - Blooming Amazing Flower Company could be the best florist in the country.
Two of our flower shops recently entered the 2008 Irish Flower Shop of The Year Awards. In round one of the competition both our shops on Dawson St. and in Foxrock were awarded a Silver Award of Excellence which entitles them both to enter the second stage of the event to compete for the coveted Gold Award.
For one of our shops to achieve this award is fantastic but for two of them to reach this level its just amazing - only seven florists in Dublin have reached this stage - two of them are Blooming Amazing.
The Irish Flower Shop of The Year awards are the "Olympics" of the floristry industry. They are sponsored by the Flower Council of Holland and Oasis Floral Products. This prestigious award has a winner’s prize of an investment bursary worth €5,000.00.
To achieve the Silver Award both shops had to demonstrate knowledge, expertise and understanding in key areas including floristry skills, shop layout, customer service and business management.
We are looking forward to the next round when, with a lot of hard work and a just little luck, we might scoop that coveted Gold Award.
